Solid
It is Harvest Moon as you would expect it. The difference in this one is:............ LARGE POCKETS to hold crops. Several crops can be put in one slot (ie 99 tomatoes in pockets only takes one spot as long as they are same quality and freshness) .. your horse is there from day one and instead of a saddle, you have a carrage that you can upgrade to make it bigger, although if it is too big you will have to buy a bigger horse to accomidate the weight... There are pets that will help you if you purchase them and make them happy. ( owl takes you up mountain etc).. There are many festivals, although you cannot walk around... you just initiate it and watch it play out... I am only in my first year so there is still a lot more for me to unlock, and I am not married so i dont know how that goes in this one. But the one catch to this game is that you do get to pick what land you move to initially, but out of the two locations only one does crops and one does animals. so as far as i know you can not do both at the same time. There is a multiplayer feature, but no random partners. you must know someone and have their code to play with them.. I read a bunch of reviews about how this one is based on cooking, and it pretty much is. Which is not a bad thing because trying to create your own recipies is part of the HM fun. If you are a Harvest moon fan then this is a good game to get, no Ifs Ands or Buts. if your new to the series than you should enjoy this as well.

It's is pretty good
I have to say this isn't the best harvest moon game, but I still really like it. It.s only the first harvest moon on the 3ds, I'm sure the next one will be even better, as usual. It is too focused on the cooking aspect though.

Disappointed in HM
I have always been a pretty big harvest moon fan. However, I'm pretty disappointed in this game.
Firstly: The controls are great, especially for the 3ds version. At the beginnning it was fun trying to catch bugs and fish, but it gets old pretty quickly. The graphics and sound is great as well. You can jump on mushrooms to get on different ledges, or slide down dirt slides.
The game focused way too much on cooking. There really isn't much else with the festivals (if you live in bluebell, you show up for the farm animal ones, konohana is crops). If you look back at all the previous HM games, you could partake more in the festivals, like a horse race/dog race, egg festival from N64 rock climbing to get a blue feather, etc.
Sure, there's the festival where you catch as many fish/bug by hand, but really? Is that all they could do?
You can only upgrade your farm at certain times of the season. You can't get ahead until you get an upgrade, so you're stuck waiting until it's an option.
If you want to be friends with someone, they mostly all just like cooked items. For a few seasons, you don't really have much of a kitchen. And there's no fridge. So your food goes in the storage bin/cart with everything else, and rots pretty quickly. Eventually you can get a cart that is kind of like a "fridge" to keep your food from spoiling. But when the game focuses on cooking you'd think there would be a fridge...

Not A Huge Leap But A Good Game!
Even with the new storyline of the two rival towns, this game follows the same basic pattern of HM games: farm, marry, have a baby. I had planned on not buying it but when I found out it was 3D I thought "may as well". It is an overall good game but I could see that some may get bored after a while. If you like Harvest Moon, don't mind a lengthy story, and can do the same thing for a while without complaining, this is an excellent game!

I WAS so excited
I got to ebgames, and the website still said it came out today, and yet, the guy who usually works there told me it wasn't out.
And so it begins again...

It IS coming out right??
I'm really looking forward to this game, having it in 3D will be great. It's an updated style that'll have two towns (As the title suggests) to choose from. Those are a few positives!
My only problem is that whenever I go to pick up this game, on the release date, I was told, or saw on the site, I've been told it's not out yet for one reason or another... I still can't wait for the game but I admit I'm getting impatient...

3d and ds
Im so anoyed thet the 3d version comes out later. I'm also anoyed that it coasts 10 dollars more. But, on the other hand, its 3d, and is probaly a better game then the ds, even though their extremely similar. I am happy about the alpaca pre-order plush and am hopping to order it tonight. I'll name the alpaca pacala if i get him. Really exited! i recremend you getting it over the ds version!
