Last *GREAT* Console
Don't think that based off of the title that newer consoles are bad, I love the Wii, it does what it was meant to, I love the XBox 360, because I don't play online, so I don't pay and I love the PS3, because, like the 360, I wouldn't play online with it, but Playstation Plus sounds like one of the greatest services a company can give it's customers (From a gamers point of view).
But down to the GameCube itself, my brother (Although it was supposedly for the both of us) got one of these babies for Christmas when I was maybe 5 and he was 7. He had wanted a PS2, but I think if at the time how much time he'd spend with that little cube, he'd wouldn't have thought he missed out on the PS2 (Although he might not have been sad in the first place, and we got to play one a few years later anyway). Anyway, that was the first game system I played, so I loved that thing after seeing what it could do.
Think about it, there being a whole world on a disk that you pop into a cube and turn on!
Back to the review, I loved everything about that console, the games (Which for the most part, were good, since Nintendo hadn't started rehashing games as much) were great (Look up games like SBSP: BFBB, SBSP: The Movie Game, Bomberman: Something (I can't remember), Super Mario Sunshine, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle among many others), the system itself had little things that were good, the power button went down when the system was on, it went back up when it went off, to put in a different game, you pressed the open button, the top popped open and the disc would slow down it's rotation and stop, you'd click the little button and the disc would pop and you'd put a new one in (See diagram 1 and 2), the controller was great, from everything from the little clicks the L and R buttons would make and that they worked on varying degrees on how much you pressed, the Z button and it's little inaudible but noticeable click/tap noise, the position of the Joystick and the C Stick, the button layout, the controller dimensions themselves because that controller was somewhat bulky in the same way the 360 controllers are, but they managed that bulk, in it's pretty, outer shell. (See Picture 3 and 4)
So, all in all, I believe that should you buy a GameCube with an open mind, with a want to game and to have fun, with a love of games of all types, I think you won't be disappointing by choosing a GameCube (Also, I apologize for the quality of the pictures of the GameCube and it's accessories, I took them on my iPod).

4 Stars
Great system overall, I played it when I was young. I actually hook it back up sometimes just to play The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker and Def Jam: Fight for NY. If you want to bring back some of your childhood, buy a gamecube.
