Great game, excellent addition to series.
Shogun 2 is a fantastic strategy game. You will need a decent computer to run this game, but other than that it's a very rewarding experience. The tutorials really teach you the in and outs of this game, something that a LOT of other PC strategy games need to do. The graphics are beautiful, and the detail is almost too much to ask for. Zoom all the way in, you'll know what I'm talking about. The individual soldiers looking different, the foliage swaying in the wind. The sound puts you in 1500s Japan. This is a setting that needs to be used in more video games. Very strong effort by Creative Assembly and it payed off very well. Very impressive game.

Another great TW game! 9 or 9.5/10
Yet again Creative assembly stuns us with another excellent Total War game. The graphics are even better (I'd say a bit better than Napoleon), the sound is still good and the gameplay is solid as always. The only element I don't really like about this one (well this element regroups many other things) is the setting. I mean Japan is fun and what but I still much prefer Empire's setting and feel. Anyway, still do try out this one out! Also do look out for the expansion standalone coming out in 2012 called "Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai"!

An excellent addition to any collection
Shogun 2 total war is one of the most impresive strategy games on the market today. It offers a good balance between both single player and multiplayer. both modes offer hours of endless gameplay that could keep even the most hardcore gamer satisfied. the AI is very efficiant at its task in this game ( which is obviously defeating you), they are aggresive yet smart in the order of movements they set upon you to counter act. Or vice versa will provide an excellent challenge in its defensive gameplay. Although it may not be the best AI out there it is one of the best. Diversity is great!!! So many things to do in single player ranging from diplomacy to upgrades for your general. On top of that the multiplayer offers a very enticing custamization ability for your general and elite troops. Over all this game is not one to miss :D

Disappointed
I'm really not liking the game. No matter what Clan I choose I always seem to end up with food shortages quickly, regardless of how much effort I put into "researching" and building better farms; and that always leads to constant rebellions. Combine that with constantly being rushed by other clans despite trying to play both passively and aggressively and a huge lack of trade. Plus the researching I find sub-par; only able to research 1 thing at a time, and at a really slow rate. It takes forever to research anything. And the occasional crash to have to deal with.
Extremely disappointed. Empire was much better.

A winner for the Total War franchise.
Shogun 2: Total War is undoubtedly one of the best entries into the Total War strategy series. For those unfamiliar with this series, Total War incorporates both strategic level gameplay, wherein players put their strategic skills to the test on beautifully designed map of Japan, and tactical level gameplay, which presents Shogun 2's stunning visuals in all their glory. Any player who has even a semblance of interest in strategic-type games should try their hand at this title. Although this isn't a revolutionary entry, it successfully returns the series to its roots, with more simplified gameplay. The decreased complexity of the game does not skimp on the ejoyability of gameplay here. The artificial intelligence of computer opponents is excellent, albeit not perfect, and the visuals combined with exhilarating gameplay are second to none. For those interested in multiplayer, Shogun 2 offers a new take on this aspect of gameplay, including a RPG-type elements that allow players to advance their own, personal avatar and armies with myriad upgades. All in, this is an incredible title to an already reputable franchise, and anyone with a half-decent PC should pick up this title.
