So far so good! But, it's still improving.
I've been playing this game for a while now since it first launched on the PC, and I can tell you that it was a very weird, somewhat, disappointing experience at first. However, after the passing months with some updates, and change of certain staff within SE, the game is coming along rather nicely. This game is no way like FFXI, but it is somewhat like it at the same time. There's no more Job system for it has been replaced with the class system. (so far it is good as well) No more Auction House. Instead, it has been replaced with the Retainer system. (it's ok, but will improve) No need to spend hours in hopes of finding a Blackmage with warp 1 & 2 for it has also been replaced with the anywhere teleport system. (so long as you visit the area or node first, just like with the crags in FFXI) In this game, you can solo, level up with a friend, or even party. But, it doesn't require you to have a party or friend to level up. A nice fix from FFXI which often led to frustrated players spending hours trying to find a decent party to level their character.. (which is cool, but boring when by yourself) For crafting, you now gain EXP along with Skill points to level up your craft, (a fairly decent amount of EXP I should say) and crafting in FFXIV doesn't take as long as it did in FFXI to level up, which is really nice. But, it still being improved upon. (so far so good) With the new update coming in September, most improvements promised will be delivered. As for the rest, the next update will fix that sometime in November or early December. Furthermore, Chocobo's are coming in the September update. I can't wait to get one! Lastly, I will be buying the PS3 version of FFXIV, just in case my laptop suddenly decides to croak on me. Although, I don't know if they will be using the same servers that the PC's use, I hope they do!

Not For Everyone even ff and ffxi fans
Having been playing this game since beta 2 and be dissapointed since then as much as i would love to recommend this game i just can't. This game as been out for a long time and no actual content is in the game all you can do is do your 8 guileaves that reset per 36 hours then you are left to do nothing. If you are holding out on this game then prehaps you should hold out a bit longuer until new patches come espcially the new job system and prehaps new sp/exp system as well cause all there is too do right now in the game is leaves and trust me after 6+ months of only doing the same leaves it is nothing exciting. While the game is still free while they try to resurect it from a faillure of a launch even if you loved ffxi even if you loved every ff titles and the brand itself i cannot recommend this game yet. I have 3 lvl50s and every other job in the game 30 and crafts all above 20 take it from someone who played this game in and out there is no content yet in this game hold out and check the lodestone but as the game stands right avoid it unless you are a endless hopefull like myself and the only reason you are grinding is too be ahead of the curve if the game gets better and we get end-game,chocobos, quests and an actual game on our hands.I even brought a new desktop for the game since i was to excited to wait for the ps3 release now that desktop as since broken and if you are on the fence and can't wait for this game wait for the ps3 release and save yourself some money even if they delay it again the game is nowhere near acceptable.

Undecided...
I am greatly looking forward to this game, but not at the same time. I can't help but awe over the stunning graphics, character design, and details, but does the rest of the game whole up? I'm concerned about the battle aspects, the story line, and the overall game playing. I'm hoping that Square-Enix really touches up the ps3 version for when it's supposedly coming out in March 2011. (Rumor) The opening movie was spectacular, and I'm hoping the rest of the game will be the same. Another reason I'm considering not purchasing the game, is the 13$ fee per month. I find that ridiculous seeing how much SE already made with the amount of pre-ordered versions of this game. I think FFXIV should have been maybe a little more expensive to buy, maybe $79.99, but no monthly fee. Maybe you'd pay extra for bonus new stuff that came out in the game, but monthly fees are bazaar, and a stupid idea on SE's part. I'm still looking forward to this game however, though with these second thoughts is why I haven't purchased a pre-order. I'll wait it out, and see what the reviews say about the ps3 version. Then hopefully I can make my decision.
