Mass Effect 3 (DLC available for purchase in-store)
Prepare for depression with every choice
I just finished playing the entire Mass Effect trilogy. In many ways I would say Mass Effect 3 is a step above ME2. They did away with things that fans complained about such as the irritating planetary scanning system. You can now scan large areas with a single scan. Navigating places like the Citadel is even better than it was in ME2. Character movement in combat has been greatly improved with unlimited stamina to run, better reaction to button pushing for ducking and evading and also the ability to jump and climb ladders and such. That said, the storyline falls into the same cliche that all things that are coming to an end do -- it feels that everyone has to die so there are no 'loose ends'. It makes for an incredibly depressing storyline. For people just jumping into ME3 it won't mean much, but for fans who've played through ME1 and ME2 and become invested in the characters...prepare yourselves. You'll often have to choose between them, kill some yourself or allow them to be killed, given no option to save them from sacrificing themselves and so forth. Basically you're just going to fight long combat missions and then get lots of cut scenes of many of those teammates and NPCs dying. And then you die too. The end. Depressing and sad. Leaves no room for future DLCs or ME games and generally just a bad feeling after so much effort.
This game is by far one of the BEST 3rd-person shooters I have ever played. The story is gripping, the characters are deep and feel human, you can build your character to suit your style of play by choosing from several classes, weapons and armors. You can see the effects of the choices you make during certain points in the story, some are quite drastic. You can choose which skills to upgrade and choose your teammates to balance out the battlefield. The 4-player co-op multiplayer is also very fun, using a Horde mode style with challenges thrown in every few waves. All-in-all this is a great game and definitely worth getting, despite all of the internet drama over the ending (which I personally thought was good).
Ridiculous how people are whining about the ending of the game and forgetting about how awesome the rest of the game is - including multiplayer. It's a good game, fun to play and it kept you interested.
Temporarily ruined by temporary ending
Okay yes the ending was bad, but they're changing so we can at least enjoy the rest of the game... The only thing i wish they would have done was try to appeal equally to the fans of the 2nd game as that of the 1st... They didn't give us a single 2nd game specific squadmate (*who was an actual squadmate*)... just not fair
Oh god my sides
The quality of this game compared to the predecessors is phenomenal! They totally dropped the ball on the story and game-play this time around.
100000/10! Game of the year for sure!
Ok i got this about 2 days ago and i'll tell you that this will be one of the best role-playing games ever made, the gameplay, sound, graphics, and everything is great. it is an instant classic, now for the multi-player. The multi-player is fun, its sorta like Halo, but whats stupid is online pass, so if you want to get this game, get a new one so you can have the online pass.
SO EPICLY AMAZING!
Lets just say that its a game, A AWSOME GAME, this game will win G.O.T.Y, thats my prediction, and as i saw the trailor, it was JAW DROPPING, it looked so good the graphics the sound the gameplay and so much more, every character has a personality and every choice you make can be different from the other, i only played the demo and i loved it, i pre-ordered it and it will be the BOMB!
