Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
BEST GAME EVER
I don't need to write a review that's how good the game is enough said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recommend this game to RPG fans
Like Demon's Souls; have a PSP...
...then this game may be for you. Like Demon's Souls there is no hand holding in this game, the learning curve is steep, your character levels up as you level up (better skills, better observation, better results), there is a certain amount of grinding/dying to be done, and the feeling of satisfaction when bring you down a nasty is paramount. The story element in Monster Freedom unite is almost negligible and the goals are basic. It is about hunting monsters and about creating better armor and weapons from the monsters, the environment (gathering, mining, killing small monsters), and the quest rewards. There are a number of game modes including village quests, monster training quests, and guild hall quests. In the village quest you can choose to be accompanied by a AI companion. In the guild hall quests you can be accompanied by fellow hunters through a local adhoc connection or through Adhoc Party on the PS3 (need wired connection for PS3). The Adhoc Party/Monster Hunter community on the PS3 is very active and it is easy to find existing rooms and to populate new rooms for beginners through to the experienced. Playing online with other hunters is an absolute riot; when you click with a group of hunters you really do feel like companions on a quest. There are a myriad of reasons why this series is more popular than air in Japan and why its fan base is fanatical but... there are some problems. The camera and movement controls are both on the left side and this takes time to get accustom to. The game is also huge; a Brady guide for this game would have to come in five volumes. After 500 hours, I still like my laptop running to order to refer to different FAQ's as I play. For a last generation game, the graphic are spectacular, and the character movement /control is flawless (once you get accustom to the camera control). I can't recommend this game enough to gamers who can weather a certain amount of frustration and who have the patience to develop the skills to become a Monster Hunter.
