Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
I think we are just getting started...
Same old gameplay and level we remember, but now with a new aesthetic. Who could possibly not buy this game ? Did I forgot to tell you that you get 7 remastered maps (1 firefight / 6 matchmaking) for Halo Reach ?
Now a special word from Sgt. Avery Junior Johnson
"So. You beat the Halo games. Not bad, soldier, not bad at all. But are you ready to take the next step?! In the full version of Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary, you'll find all the vehicles like tanks, plasma turrets, and aircraft: powerful, human and alien weapons with updated graphics; a fully remastered single player campaign spanning ten massive indoor and outdoor environments; and support for intense multiplayer battles with up to sixteen of your friends! ... Or enemies on Halo Reach with the seven classic maps. All that wrapped up in an epic sci-fi story that's so freaky, it makes me shake just thinkin' about it. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. Buy one! Heck, buy two. That's an order, soldier!"
Brings back great memories... :..)
The of the best times I've had in a first person shooter have been in this game. Whether it was playing some local multiplayer with my brothers or going through the awesome story with my friends, I never had a bad time in this game. I am definitely getting this so that I can relive all of that; taking on the covenant, seeing the flood for the first time, and racing off of the Pillar of Autumn. Those are just some of my great memories. Also, they had better put The old maps back in., especially Blood gulch and Avalanche.
I am very much looking forward to this game. I was lucky enough to be born a little under a decade prior to the release of Halo CE and so I am look forward to a remastered remake of this classic. It will also be a great opportunity for other gamers to get into the series or for people who may only have played the more recent Xbox titles (Halo 3, Halo ODST, and Reach) to be able to play the game that revolutionized the gaming world. The addition of achievements and Terminals into were definitely a good choice in my opinion as well as the ability to go back and forth from 2001 graphics and sounds to the 2011 version. I can't wait to play this again an I also can't wait for Halo 4!
Plays exactly like the original
For those that are wondering, from what I've read and seen, this re-release will play exactly the same as the original Halo: Combat Evolved, however the graphics engine will be the same engine used in Halo: Reach. Same game, better graphics! If you're like me and wake up in a cold sweat after having dreams of Assualt on the Control Room on Legendary, then this is a must buy for fans, and new players alike! Will be the best $40 I spend all Q4 this year!
good old days
YAY!!! finally!! :D one of the best games is coming back! now only if they also make halo 2!!! I'd be so happy! and the price is perfect! only 39.99$! now only if more games were 39$!!
A Must have for FPS Fans!
I've seen campaign demos and played Beaver creek (multiplayer) at FanExpo 2011. For the price, and quality game this is a must have for Halo and any FPS fan out there. $40 gets you the complete Halo 1 campaign and 6 multiplayer maps (Reach not required but suggested). That is allot better value then some of the newer games being made today.
it is a fun game and the game play is smooth it was a nice touch being able to flip back and forth from original and new graphics. seeing the old graphics again brings back memories but i thought they should of had a larger selection of game modes and maps also start of with more firefight maps!!!!!!! overall it is a good game and i recommend it
Yes for Nostalgic reasons, No for Multiplayer
The remake was everything I had hoped for in the campaign, but that was not the reason that I had pre-ordered and wanted the game. I am sure like most people, players anticipated a phenomenal multiplayer for XBL. Quite frankly in my opinion I hated the Halo: Reach multiplayer which is why I hate this multiplayer; because of the added features that Bungie added to make the game more, for a lack of a better term, "COD Friendly". I am aware it is by 343 industries, and personally to give it a better feel the game should have been played on the Halo 3 Server, obviously after polishing it up after about a year of nothing being done to it. But ye, the title says it all, if you want it for nostalgic reasons to remember the good ol' Halo CE campaign, go for it. But if you're expecting a good multiplayer and you dislike Reach then stay away from it. Hopefully Halo 4 will be something more towards the Halo 2/3 multiplayers.
If you want a good campaign, don't care much for multiplayer, great game. Otherwise, if you expected a great multiplayer and hated the Halo:Reach multiplayer, then it is a complete waste of $40.
How could they go wrong with this?
How could they go wrong with re-making the start of one of the greatest gaming franchises of all time? Definitely an amazing idea. Good Job 343!
Amazing game brought back many memories
This is an amazing game, the campaign is pretty amazing its all remastered and looks just as if it was a brand new game! I really liked that you can see the old graphics and the new graphics to be able to go back and compare how it looked 10 years ago to how it looks now, and say so this is how it looked 10 years ago. I played it when it first came out for the Xbox and loved it since. I recommend this game if you are to play the campaign, but the multiplayer is just the same as the one in Reach so its pretty much a waste of money if you are to get it just for the multiplayer.
If you want a good campaign, don't care much about the multiplayer, its a great game go for it.
