Phantasy Star Universe
THE Hack n' Slash Roleplay Game to Own.
When I first heard about PSU, I was hesitant to ever pick it up. The game looked unpolished from what I'd seen, and the pay-to-play online was a real turn off. After doing a little digging, however, I found out that there was also a very lengthy single player portion of the game as well, and at $**, I was all set to buy it. Upon popping it in and starting up the campaign, I was taken back a little by how ancient things looked, and the constant loading screens from area to area were a real turn off. It was talking, talking, and more talking and no action to be found in the first level until almost the very end, but for whatever reason, I stuck with it. After the 2nd chapter, the game opened up hugely. The loading screens became quite infrequent, the game world opened up into something massive, and the weapons (and upgrades) that came throughout the game got better and better. The storyline was fascinating, the action was fluid, and the customization options, from decorating your quarters to buying new combos for your weapons, was limitless. Get through the slumping first two hours of the game and you'll find one of the best hidden secrets the 360 has to offer, I highly recommend this one.
