Close Combat: First to Fight is an authentic, team-based first-person shooter created under the direction of active-duty United States Marines fresh from the front lines of combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. Set in a modern mid-eastern urban battleground, players lead a four-man Marine fireteam through the perils of modern urban combat. Together with the United States Marine Corps and Atomic Games, Destineer has created First to Fight as a training simulation for use by the Marine Corps and has now made it available to gamers.

The History of Close Combat:

In 1996, Atomic Games' Close Combat blasted its way permanently into the annals of military gaming history with the most realistic wargame ever created. Not only did it accurately model every terrain, vehicle, weapon, and ballistic detail accurately, it actually factored in how humans really behave under the stresses of war. And, as one of the very first strategy games with real-time action, Close Combat helped launch the real-time strategy game genre.

Now, eight years later, Close Combat is still the standard against which most military games are compared. Most recently, in February of 2004, Gamespy named Close Combat one of the Top 10 Strategy Games of All Time.

For the past year, active-duty Marines fresh from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan have been working closely with Atomic and Destineer to create the most authentic modern combat games possible. The next two Close Combat games, First to Fight(tm) and Red Phoenix(tm), will give you an up-close and very realistic look at being a Marine in modern combat.
