Trade in Your Mobile Devices at EB Games

Bring in your smartphone, tablet and/or media player into EB Games for our associates to review. Once they assess your device they will provide you with a trade value and, if they are a participating location, a cash value. Trade credit can be used to purchase anything in store including games, accessories, mobile devices, consoles and/or gift cards! For participating cash locations, Click here.

The value of the mobile devices will diminish over time so be sure to trade it in right away. The trade value of the device will be determined based on the model, year, and condition.

How to Trade in Mobile Devices at EB Games:

  1. Back up any information from your device.
  2. If trading an Apple iOS 7 device, ensure your 'Find My iPhone (or Find my iPad or Find my iPod)' feature has been turned off – a Wi-Fi connection and your Apple ID and password will be required to unlink your account from the device. We do not retain your password. Please remove screen lock password.
  3. Deactivate your account and/or remove the SIM card.
  4. Charge your device before coming into the store to make testing the unit possible.
  5. AC adaptors and charge cables are required when trading in Android and/or Windows products.
  6. Don't forget to bring your valid, government photo ID (it is necessary for trading product).
  7. Bring your mobile device into your closest EB Games Location. Find a list of stores here

When trading, the customer agrees to the following:

  1. The trade in device is an eligible device;
  2. The customer is the sole owner of the trade in device - free and clear of all claims of any kind;
  3. The serial number must be visible – it cannot be damaged, removed or manipulated in any way;
  4. The customer has removed all personal data from the trade in device;
  5. The trade in device functions properly; and
  6. The customer is over the age of majority in their province of residence.

Trade in eligibility will vary depending on the device's condition:

Mobile Condition - Like New

  • 100% Functional – Passes ALL in-store functionality tests
  • In pristine or "like new" condition
  • Little to no cosmetic issues (i.e. light scratches, etc.)
  • Unlink phone number from Apple ID and disable password lock
  • The serial number must be clearly visible

Mobile Condition - Damaged


  • 100% Functional – Passes ALL in-store functionality tests
  • Cosmetic damage from normal use
  • Major cosmetic damage
  • Cracked screen
  • Engravings
  • Broken buttons/ports/switches
  • Dents/chips in the case
  • Dead pixel(s)
  • Unlink phone number from Apple ID and disable password lock
  • The serial number must be clearly visible

Mobile Condition - Non-Functional


  • Non-functional
  • Unit turns on but freezes at or after the Apple logo screen
  • Dead battery
  • No power
  • Non-responsive touch screen
  • Serial number is damaged, missing or manipulated

Select generations accepted. Trades must be in full working condition to receive full value. Trades that are defective, will not power on or show signs of water damage will not be accepted. All trades are subject to manager approval. By trading your Mobile device you release EB Games Canada from any claim relating to the product (including but not limited to the loss of the mobile device or its contents) and any music, pictures or other data stored on it. You also release EB Games Canada from any claim for loss or unauthorized access, use or disclosure of any personal or private data or information stored on the mobile device. EB Games Canada reserves the right to cease taking trades of mobile devices without notice. Activation fees may apply.

Pre-ordering products for in-store pickup is fast and easy. First, ensure you’re logged in on, and simply add eligible pre-orders to your shopping cart using the "Add to Cart" button. In your shopping cart, click on the "Pre-order online & pickup in-store" button to continue. A $5 deposit is required to ensure your product is reserved for you in-store. Please be aware that regular in-stock merchandise are not eligible for pickup in-store.

You’ll need to select an EB Games store where you’ll pickup your order. You can do this by using the map feature at the checkout and searching by city, store address, or postal code. Once your order is placed, you cannot change your selected store. You will receive an order confirmation by email and a call from the store once your product arrives. At that time, you’ll be required to pay the balance of your order at the store.

If you would like to cancel your pre-order, please visit the store that you directed the order to. An associate will be more than glad to assist you with the refund.
